New hospital fit-out

The local builder LANDSVERK is looking to build a new, state of the art 10.000 sqm. hospital building as part of ambitious expansion plans for the main hospital in Tórshavn. The building is expected to be completed in 2018. With its prominent geographic location right next to the main port in Tórshavn the hospital building is deemed to become a new landmark for the Faero Islands.

It is a visionary project both in terms of architecture and functionality with a special emphasis on creating improved working conditions for employees, eliminating the stigmatization of psychiatric patients and leveraging collaboration across departments through a heightened flexibility in the organisation of hospital functions. The hospital is designed to be a flexible response to future needs in terms of technology, treatment types and working methods, and will significantly improve the quality of patients' healtcare experience and the staff's working conditions. A sub-consultant to the Turn-Key Contractor FAERPORT, Rosan Bosch Studio will use art, furniture and spatial design as active, value-adding, design elements in the interior of the new building in order to meet the key values of the project.

Instead of working with traditional design ornaments Rosan Bosch Studio will create an art program for the new hospital building, where local artists and craftsmen will be invited to create artwork and arts and crafts pieces, to be integrated in the final design of the new hospital building. It is estimated that 800 faculty- and staff members plan to move to this hospital building, alongside patients and family members.
